Built on the SKS platform, this Type 56 pairs a 20.5-inch barrel with a fixed internal 10-round magazine in 7.62x39. It uses the classic semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston system with a tilting bolt, and it retains the manual safety lever. The steel receiver carries the Jianshe Arsenal triangle /26\ mark and Chinese characters 五六式, with the import legend "NORINCO SKS 7.62 CHINA."
Markings and construction details are consistent with 1960s production, including the milled trigger guard assembly and the in-the-white bolt carrier with a round knob charging handle. The last five digits "89890" are observed matching on the bolt carrier and magazine floorplate. The receiver-cover/mount also shows an additional molded triangle symbol.
Iron sights are intact, with a tangent rear leaf graduated to 10 and a front post within protective ears. The front sight hood ring is absent. A spike-bayonet lug is present, though no bayonet is installed.
Custom furniture includes an aftermarket black synthetic Monte Carlo stock with a molded cheek swell, rubber buttplate, and sling swivels, plus a synthetic ventilated handguard.
