The Model 15-3 pairs a blued carbon-steel K-Frame with a 4-inch carbon-steel barrel featuring a serrated rib for a clean sight picture. It uses a six-shot fluted cylinder with an unshrouded ejector rod, consistent with period configuration.
The sighting system combines a serrated Baughman-style ramp front sight with an S&W micrometer adjustable rear sight, giving precise, repeatable adjustments. The dash-3 engineering change relocated the rear-sight leaf screw.
Controls are set up for confident operation with a wide smooth-face trigger and a wide checkered hammer spur. The revolver is double-action/single-action, chambered in .38 Special.
Target-style checkered walnut stocks with S&W medallions provide a solid hold. Markings include "MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS." and "SMITH & WESSON" on the left side of the barrel, with "MOD. 15-3" marked on the yoke cut. Manufactured in the United States during the 1970s, this model is well-regarded for its long service history in American policing and by U.S.
Air Force Security Forces.
