The Hawken configuration is evident throughout, with a half-stock American walnut layout and right-hand cheekpiece. The lockplate carries factory scroll-style engraving, adding a period-correct touch to this reproduction. Brass furniture includes the crescent buttplate, patchbox, trigger guard, nosecap, and ramrod thimbles/escutcheons.
The 28-inch octagonal barrel is blued steel and fitted with iron sights: an adjustable rear open sight and a dovetailed front blade with a red/orange insert. The barrel is wedge-keyed to the stock and uses a hooked breech. An under-rib with two ramrod pipes runs beneath the barrel.
Action is a percussion caplock, single-shot muzzleloader with an external hammer. The double-set trigger arrangement supports a crisp, tunable trigger setup. Length of pull measures 14.5 inches, and capacity is 1 round when loaded from the muzzle.
Markings on the barrel read: "THOMPSON | CENTER ARMS ROCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE .50 CAL. HAWKEN" and "BLACK POWDER ONLY—INSTRUCTIONS MUST BE READ BEFORE USE." Sling-swivel studs are installed on the buttstock and under-rib.
