The MRAD chassis is built around a monolithic 7000-series aluminum upper/forend with a full-length, T-marked Picatinny top rail. The rail measures approximately 21.75 inches and includes about 10 mrad of integral cant to extend elevation travel. The free-float slotted aluminum handguard provides accessory slots at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions to support modular setup.
Its heavy, 26-inch fluted barrel is threaded and fitted with a multi-port muzzle brake. The .338 Lapua chamber pairs with a 1:9.4 twist rate, and the barrel is part of Barrett’s user-changeable system secured by two Torx fasteners marked “140 IN LBS T30 PLUS.” This design enables straightforward caliber or barrel swaps within the MRAD family.
The right-side folding stock shortens the package for storage and transport while locking solidly in use. Adjustments include cheekpiece height and length of pull, with a rubber buttpad for shoulder interface. A bottom accessory rail is integrated into the stock, and the rifle uses an AR-pattern pistol grip for familiar ergonomics.
The oversized bolt knob aids fast, controlled operation of the bolt-action system. Detachable box magazines provide a 10+1 capacity. The rifle’s Flat Dark Earth finish, U.S. manufacture, and platform lineage to the USSOCOM-selected Mk22 Advanced Sniper Rifle underscore its modern, duty-grade design elements.
