Smith & Wesson Model 547 9mm K-Frame Revolver, 4 Inch Heavy Barrel, Polished Blue, 6-Shot
The Smith & Wesson Model 547 is a limited-production, fixed-sight K-frame revolver chambered in 9mm Luger and built from 1980–1985. It features S&W's patented 9mm extractor system marked on the barrel as PAT. 4,127,955, allowing reliable extraction of rimless cartridges without moon clips. This example has a polished blue finish, a 4 inch heavy barrel, and classic checkered walnut Magna grips with S&W medallions, making it a strong, collectible representative of the model.
Built on a square-butt K-frame, this revolver pairs a 4 inch heavy-profile barrel with a partial under-barrel ejector-rod channel and a knurled ejector-rod tip. The 6-shot fluted cylinder and carbon-steel construction are finished in polished blue, with a color case-hardened hammer and trigger. Sights are fixed: a serrated ramp front and an integral topstrap rear notch.
The Model 547's notable feature is its patented 9mm non–moon-clip extractor with six spring-loaded tabs, designed specifically for rimless 9mm cartridges. The patent marking (PAT. 4,127,955) appears on the barrel, underscoring this model's distinctive engineering.
Controls and operation are traditional double-action/single-action. Factory markings are clear and legible. The included extra set of S&W checkered walnut Magna stocks provides an additional factory-correct grip option.
Made in the USA during the 1980–1985 run, the Model 547 stands out among S&W K-frames for its 9mm chambering and specialized extractor system. The bore on this revolver is excellent, bright and clean with strong rifling.
