The RS variant pairs a 20-inch blued sporter-profile barrel with factory open sights, including a hooded ramp front and a folding rear notch. The receiver features integral Ruger scope mounting bases, and Ruger rings are installed, offering straightforward scope setup if desired.
The walnut stock has cut checkering, a straight comb, and sling swivel studs for field carry. Length of pull measures 13.75 inches, providing a traditional sporting fit and handling.
Ruger’s three-position safety is located on the bolt shroud, and the rifle uses a non-adjustable trigger. The detachable, flush-fitting rotary magazine delivers a 10+1 capacity in .22 LR, a hallmark of the 77/22 design.
This example bears the Southport, Connecticut barrel address rollmark and represents the 1980s era of production. The RS sighted variant was later discontinued, adding interest for buyers who prefer factory iron sights on a 77/22.
