The BG38 design combines a stainless steel barrel with an aluminum alloy upper frame and a steel-reinforced polymer lower, producing a compact revolver that weighs approximately 14.4 oz and measures 6.6 in overall. The matte black finish complements the matte black PVD-coated stainless cylinder, which is fluted and paired with a fully shrouded ejector rod featuring a relief window.
Controls and operation are purpose-built: a double-action-only system with an internal (enclosed) hammer, a top-mounted ambidextrous cylinder release, and a clockwise-rotating cylinder. Capacity is five rounds of .38 Special +P. Fixed iron sights include a pinned ramp front and an integral rear trench for a snag-resistant profile.
The integrated Crimson Trace red laser is factory-installed, with molded Crimson Trace branding and FDA laser warning decals on the module. The laser is currently inoperative and will need a new module to restore function. Mechanical iron sights remain fully usable as primary aiming references.
Factory identifiers and packaging support its provenance: the serial number on the revolver matches the factory box end label, and the manufacturer part number is 10062. The barrel is listed as 1.875 in (the box label lists 1.78 in). This BG38 uses unique lockwork with clockwise cylinder rotation and parts that are not interchangeable with traditional J-frames.
