Produced at Jianshe Arsenal and marked with the triangle /26\ stamp, this Type 56 dates to approximately 1962–1963. The rifle shows matching serials on the receiver cover, bolt, bolt carrier, trigger guard, magazine floorplate, and stock, aligning its major components as they left the arsenal.
Mechanically, it follows the classic SKS pattern: a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston system with a tilting-bolt lockup, chambered in 7.62x39. It has a 20.5-inch barrel and a fixed internal 10-round magazine. The receiver is machined steel with a blued finish, paired with an in-the-white bolt and bolt carrier consistent with early Type 56 configuration.
Sighting equipment includes a hooded post front sight and a tangent rear sight graduated to 1000 meters with the "П" battle setting. The under-barrel bayonet lug supports the integral folding blade bayonet, which stows neatly along the fore-end when not deployed.
