The Model 669 combines a stainless steel slide and barrel with a matte silver anodized aluminum-alloy frame to deliver a durable, compact 9mm package. Its one-piece wraparound black synthetic grip with S&W medallion provides a secure hold while keeping the profile slim for carry and handling.
Controls and safeties are comprehensive and user-focused: DA/SA operation with an exposed spurred hammer, a slide-mounted ambidextrous decocker/safety, a firing pin block, and a magazine disconnect. The curved trigger includes an overtravel stop, and the slide features rear serrations and an external extractor for reliable manipulation.
Sights are fixed iron, with a ramped front and a low-mount rear that keeps the top end streamlined. Capacity is 12+1 with the included 12-round magazines, each fitted with finger-rest baseplates for added purchase.
As part of S&W’s Second Generation lineup, the 669 was produced from 1985 to 1988 in the United States, with approximately 54,074 examples made. It is the stainless counterpart to the Model 469 and the forerunner to the Model 6906, and this pistol is noted as being outside the 1986 S&W recall serial ranges.
