Built on S&W’s robust X-Frame, this 460XVR combines stainless steel construction with a satin finish across the frame, cylinder, and receiver. The 5-shot fluted cylinder is chambered in .460 S&W Magnum and the revolver is factory-approved to also fire .454 Casull and .45 Colt, offering a wide range of load options.
The 8.38 inch barrel assembly uses a two-piece design with a heavy shroud, a full-length underlug, and gain-twist rifling per S&W. An integral multi-port compensator and porting help manage recoil and muzzle rise. A green fiber-optic front sight provides a bright aiming reference; the rear sight is not visible due to the installed top rail.
A cross-slot Picatinny/Weaver rail is installed on the drilled-and-tapped topstrap, providing a solid mounting interface. The revolver operates in double-action/single-action with an external hammer and a smooth-faced trigger. An internal lock is present. The black synthetic rubber grip with finger grooves offers a secure, hand-filling hold.
Dimensions are substantial, with an approximate overall length of 15 inches and a weight of roughly 72–72.5 ounces, reflecting the revolver’s heavy-duty build. This configuration is identified by S&W part number 163460 and is made in the USA.
Additional notable features include the satin stainless finish on both the frame and cylinder, and the presence of gain-twist rifling that progressively increases twist rate along the bore.
