The Model 27-9 Classic is an N-frame .357 Magnum built with carbon steel and finished in bright blue. Its 4 inch barrel carries a checkered rib and partial underlug, and the topstrap is also checkered for glare reduction.
The revolver uses a double-action/single-action system with an exposed, wide checkered hammer spur and a smooth, wide color case-hardened trigger. It has a frame-mounted firing pin and an internal lock, with a six-shot fluted cylinder.
Sighting is handled by a pinned, serrated ramp front sight and a micrometer-adjustable rear sight with a cross-serrated base. Checkered walnut target-style stocks with S&W medallions provide a classic grip profile.
