Product Description

Sharon Rifle Barrel Co. Hawken Half-Stock Percussion Rifle, .54 Cal, 32-inch Octagon Barrel, Double-Set Triggers (1970s USA Kit-Built)

This Sharon Rifle Barrel Co. Hawken-pattern muzzleloader is a 1970s, U.S.-made, kit-built reproduction in .54 caliber with a 32-inch heavy octagon barrel and a browned finish. It features double-set triggers, open iron sights, and a classic half-stock layout with a left-side beavertail cheekpiece. The rifle follows traditional Hawken styling with an external hammer, crescent buttplate, and percussion cap ignition.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.

Bore Fouling: Moderate Fouling - Lead or copper fouling with noticeable buildup.

Bore Rifling: Good Rifling - Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: The bore shows notable fouling that appears restorable with careful cleaning. Pitting, scuffs, and scratches are present on metal and wood surfaces, but the rifle presents well overall for its type and era.

    What’s Included

    • Sharon Rifle Barrel Co. Hawken-pattern half-stock percussion rifle (.54 caliber)

This rifle was assembled as a kit-built Sharon Hawken, using Sharon parts typical of the period. It follows the half-stock Hawken pattern with a hardwood stock and a left-side beavertail cheekpiece. The furniture includes a crescent iron/steel buttplate, a bright-metal nosecap, and a plain unmarked lockplate with external hammer.

The 32-inch heavy octagonal barrel wears a browned finish and is secured to the stock by two transverse wedge keys with slim oval escutcheons. An under-rib with two ramrod pipes is fitted beneath the barrel, matching traditional Hawken construction.

Ignition is via percussion cap at a right-side breech bolster and nipple. The double-set triggers provide a crisp, tunable trigger release appropriate to the period style.

Sighting equipment consists of open iron sights: a dovetailed front blade in bright metal and a simple rear sight set in the barrel dovetail. Capacity is single-shot, loaded from the muzzle.

Made in the USA during the 1970s, this reproduction reflects the era when Sharon Rifle Barrel Co. supplied well-regarded Hawken-pattern components to builders. The rifle omits a patchbox, staying true to many working Hawken configurations.
