This Smith & Wesson Model 38-2 Bodyguard Airweight is a J-frame, .38 Special DA/SA revolver with a 1.75-inch steel barrel, a blued steel cylinder, and a black anodized aluminum alloy frame. It features the distinctive shrouded yet cockable hammer, fixed sights, and pre-lock configuration. The bore is excellent, and the revolver includes an installed Hogue finger-groove grip with an additional compact boot grip, a J-frame speedloader, and a factory S&W hard case.

The Model 38-2 Bodyguard Airweight pairs a lightweight aluminum alloy J-frame with a steel barrel and blued steel, five-shot fluted cylinder. Its shrouded hammer design maintains a low profile while still allowing the checkered spur to be cocked for single-action use.
The sighting system is fixed and straightforward, with a serrated ramped blade front and an integral rear notch. The 1.75-inch barrel keeps the package compact while retaining traditional rifling, which is sharp and clean in this example.
Factory rollmarks and markings are present, including the S&W circular Trade Mark, the "Airweight" script on the frame, and the "MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS." legend. The yoke cut is stamped "38-2," and no internal key-lock hole is observed, indicating a pre-lock configuration.
This revolver has been fitted with a Hogue black rubber finger-groove Monogrip in place of the factory stocks. A compact rubber boot grip is also included, along with a 5-shot J-frame speedloader and the original Smith & Wesson blue plastic hard case.
