The pistol is striker-fired, recoil-operated, and locked-breech. Its safety system includes a grip safety, trigger safety, firing pin block, and a loaded chamber indicator, aligning with the XD series design.
Sight elements are fixed, dovetailed white 3-dot irons with a front blade carrying a single white dot and a rear notch with two white dots. The slide features diagonal front and rear cocking serrations for positive manipulation and incorporates the loaded chamber indicator.
Construction includes a black steel slide and barrel over a black polymer frame with textured grip panels and an SA-XD logo insert. An integral accessory rail with two cross-slots is molded into the dust cover for mounting compatible lights or accessories.
