This Nikko Sporting Firearms 5000 Grade II is a Japanese-made, trap-configured 12 gauge over/under from the 1970s–1980s with 30-inch barrels and a wide Broadway-style ventilated rib. It features factory scroll engraving with a gold eagle inlay on the blued receiver, a single trigger with tang safety, and a long beavertail forend with a Deeley-type release. The fixed choke setup is Full (top) and Improved Modified (bottom), and the gun bears Kanematsu–Gosho U.S.A. import marks.
Condition
Overall Condition: Fair condition, showing extensive signs of prior use and handling.
Bore Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.
Specific Condition Notes: The action opens with very little tension, and the locking lug shows ample life remaining. There is a very slight right-hand cast-off. The left ejector fires a fraction faster than the right. Blemishes are present on the tang under the grip. The barrels show scratches and finish blemishing, with minor pitting noted underneath the ventilated rib.

Built as a dedicated trap configuration, this 5000 Grade II wears 30-inch monoblock barrels chambered for 12 gauge 2 3/4 shells. The top rib is the wide Broadway-style ventilated pattern with a matted top for glare reduction, supporting a precise sighting plane.
Both bores are fixed with no choke threading. The choke designation is Full in the top barrel and Improved Modified in the bottom barrel, a traditional trap pairing that aligns with the model’s intended use.
The receiver is blued and factory engraved with scrollwork, highlighted by a gold eagle inlay on the flank. The underside carries the "NIKKO" oval. Markings include KANEMATSU–GOSHO U.S.A. INC., Arlington Heights, Illinois, and "Made in Japan."
The walnut stock set features a pistol grip and a long beavertail forend with a Deeley-type latch. It has fine checkering, a glossy finish, a ventilated recoil pad with a white-line spacer, and a 14.0-inch length of pull.
Mechanicals include a break-action layout with a single trigger and tang safety, and a 2-round capacity. This example is the 5000-II series within the Grade II line.
