Arsenal and import markings are well defined, including the Triangle /26\ stamp from Jianshe Arsenal, Chinese characters reading "五六式" for Type 56, and the "MADE IN CHINA BY NORINCO KSI POMONA CA" importer mark. A small "P" stamp appears to the right of the serial.
The Paratrooper configuration uses a 16.5-inch barrel and the standard SKS short-stroke gas piston system. It retains a fixed 10-round internal magazine, a milled trigger guard, and a threaded barrel-to-receiver shank. Sights are the original hooded front post and tangent ladder rear.
The hardwood stock wears the traditional orange shellac finish and includes a finger groove forend, a steel buttplate with trap, and a bottom rear sling swivel. The wood upper handguard covers the gas tube and features three elongated cooling slots per side. Metal parts are blued, while the bolt and bolt carrier remain in the white. Length of pull measures 12.5 inches.
This example has matching numbers on the receiver, trigger guard, magazine floorplate, receiver cover, bolt carrier, and buttplate. The receiver-cover side-mount base plate is a non-factory addition. The stock has a bayonet channel present, and no bayonet is installed.
