The Model 11-48 uses a long-recoil-operated action with a friction-ring assembly, a design hallmark of this series. The receiver is long and streamlined with right-side ejection, and it includes a bolt release button located forward of the trigger guard and a knurled magazine cap.
The 25 inch barrel is plain (non-vent-rib) with a single front bead on a pedestal and a fixed Full choke. The barrel is marked ".410 GA FOR 3 IN. OR SHORTER SHELLS," and this shotgun is chambered for both 2 1/2 inch and 3 inch .410 shells.
Furniture consists of a checkered wood forend and a pistol-grip buttstock capped with a Remington logo buttplate. Length of pull measures 13.75 inches. Sighting is straightforward with a front bead, aligning with the gun’s clean field configuration.
Factory markings include "Remington Model 11-48" on the receiver and "REMINGTON ARMS CO., INC., ILION, N.Y. MADE IN U.S.A." on the barrel, with a patent marking noted (2,375,xxx – others pending). Capacity is 2+1.
