The rifle retains the Model 722 short-action design with an internal blind magazine rated for 3+1 capacity. The receiver is factory drilled and tapped for scope bases, and the bolt features a polished body with a round knob. A stamped trigger guard with fixed plate is present, consistent with the Standard Grade configuration.
The 26-inch sporter-contour barrel has a crowned muzzle and an excellent, mirror-bright bore with sharp rifling. The rear sight has been removed and the dovetail filled with a Williams filler; the front sight ramp/base has been removed and the mounting holes remain. No sights are currently installed.
The one-piece walnut sporter stock is uncheckered with a straight comb and pistol grip. It is fitted with sling swivels and a black Remington hard-rubber buttplate. Length of pull measures 13.25 inches.
Additional details include a two-position safety lever and the Ilion "REP" oval proof mark. As a forerunner to the Model 700, the Model 722 platform is recognized for its straightforward, reliable action and clean lines.
