Built in 1981, this Model 70 XTR represents New Haven push-feed production and is chambered in .300 Winchester Magnum. The action features a recessed bolt face with plunger ejector, a jeweled bolt body, and a swept bolt handle with a checkered/knurled knob for positive control.
The barrel is Winchester Proof Steel, blued, round, and tapered, and it is configured without iron sights. Factory rollmarks read: "WINCHESTER MODEL 70 XTR – 300 WIN MAGNUM – MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. – WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL." The receiver is marked "WINCHESTER TRADE MARK."
The rifle is currently fitted with a textured black synthetic stock that includes sling-swivel studs and a Decelerator recoil pad. The original high-gloss checkered walnut stock with black fore-end tip and grip cap is included but not installed, giving the buyer the option to configure the rifle to preference.
A Leupold riflescope is installed on rings and base, and flip-up lens caps are included. Feeding is through an internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate, consistent with XTR-series Model 70 configuration.
