Purpose-built as a training and target variant, the Model 541X is a U.S.-contract rifle derived from Remington’s 541-series. The receiver is stamped "U.S." and set up for aperture/target rear sight equipment, while the barrel is rollmarked "M541X TARGET - .22 LONG RIFLE." These clear markings and its contract origin give it strong appeal for both shooters and collectors.
The 27-inch heavy target-contour barrel with a recessed crown is designed for stability and consistency. The steel barrel bears the Remington "REP" proof at the shank, and the rifle is chambered in .22 LR with a 5+1 capacity using its detachable box magazine.
The hardwood stock features a wide beavertail fore-end and an accessory rail fitted with an adjustable handstop and sling swivel, paired with a rear sling swivel at the butt. This setup supports sling use and stable, repeatable positions on the line.
Target sighting is addressed with a hooded/globe-style front sight set on a dovetail block. The receiver is configured for a compatible aperture/target rear sight, and no rear sight is installed.
