This no-dash Model 686 is part of the Distinguished Combat Magnum Stainless series and features the factory "M" modification stamp. The ABB-prefix serial denotes early 1980s production, and the right sideplate carries the S&W logo alongside the "MADE IN U.S.A." frame marking.
The 6-inch stainless steel barrel has a full underlug and serrated rib for steady handling. Sights include a pinned, serrated ramp front with a black blade and an adjustable S&W micrometer rear, also with a black blade, geared for precise alignment.
Built on the stainless L-frame with a square-butt profile, it uses a six-shot fluted cylinder and an exposed hammer. The topstrap is serrated, and the revolver wears checkered wooden target stocks with S&W medallions for a confident hold.
The action is double-action/single-action with a smooth-faced, forged trigger and forged pre-MIM hammer. The brushed stainless finish complements the stainless cylinder and frame, delivering durability and a clean, uniform appearance.
