Product Description

    Remington Model 870 Wingmaster 16 Gauge Pump-Action, 28-Inch Modified Plain Barrel, 1966 DuPont-Era Blued/Walnut

This 1966 Remington Model 870 Wingmaster is a 16-gauge, DuPont-era example with polished blued steel and walnut furniture featuring impressed fleur-de-lis checkering. It is configured with a 28-inch plain (non-vent rib) barrel, fixed Modified choke, and a 2 3/4-inch chamber. The receiver and barrel carry correct factory markings, and the gun retains period-correct details like a bright-finished bolt and knurled magazine/takedown cap.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Overall Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.

    What’s Included

    • Remington factory cardboard box with DuPont-era graphics; end label lists Model 870, 16 Gauge, 28 in, Modified, Plain, with matching handwritten serial
    • Remington Model 870 instruction folder and parts price list

The barrel is a plain, non-vent rib configuration with a single front bead and fixed Modified choke, consistent with the box end label. It is marked "16 GA. FOR 2 3/4 OR SHORTER SHELLS." and shows the KZ barrel date code alongside the REP proof, aligning with 1960s production.

The steel receiver wears a polished blue finish and is roll-marked "Remington" and "Wingmaster MODEL 870." Controls are classic 870, including a cross-bolt safety. This example features a bright-finished bolt and a knurled magazine/takedown cap without a sling stud.

Walnut furniture includes an attractive beavertail fore-end and a stock with impressed fleur-de-lis checkering. A red Remington-marked ventilated recoil pad with a black spacer completes the period-correct Wingmaster look.

Chambered for 2 3/4-inch shells, this 16-gauge Wingmaster uses the earlier fixed-choke system (pre-RemChoke). The serial suffix "W" denotes a 16-gauge receiver, and the DuPont-era finish and features reflect the mid-1960s production period.

The original Remington factory box with matching end label and the included Model 870 literature help document the gun’s 28-inch Modified plain barrel configuration and add completeness to the package.
