The P238 Nitron pairs an aluminum alloy frame with a Nitron-finished slide in uniform matte black. It features rear slide serrations, a beavertail/tang, and a single-stack grip frame for a slim profile. The slide is marked "SIG SAUER P238," and the barrel/ejection port is marked ".380 AUTO."
Customizations include a dovetailed 3-dot tritium night sight set (MH3 AP) installed in place of the factory contrast sights, as well as black wraparound, textured, finger-groove grips with SIG SAUER logos. The dovetailed sight cuts make the sights fully replaceable.
The pistol operates in single-action-only with an external, serrated-spur hammer. Safety features include a manual thumb safety and a firing pin block. The barrel length is 2.7 in, and the stated capacity is 7+1.
This U.S.-made example is marked "SIG SAUER INC., EXETER–NH–USA" on the frame. The factory case label is dated 14-MAR-2016 with model code 238-380-B and indicates "P238, 380, NITRON, CONTRAST, SAO." The serial number on the frame matches the factory case label.
