Built on the proven 336-pattern, this solid-top, side-eject receiver is well suited to scoped use, and this rifle includes a one-piece Weaver/Picatinny-style base already installed. The cross-bolt safety and tubular 4+1 magazine round out the classic Marlin control layout.
Chambered for the .308 Marlin Express, a cartridge co-developed with Hornady for improved lever-gun ballistics, the 308MX pairs modern performance with traditional operation. The 22 in round steel barrel uses a 1:12 RH twist.
Factory open sights include a ramped front sight with brass bead and an adjustable semi-buckhorn rear with elevator. The walnut stock and forearm feature checkering, a pistol-grip profile with black grip cap, a rubber recoil pad, and sling swivel studs. The metal and receiver wear a uniform blued finish.
Made in the USA at Marlin’s North Haven, Connecticut facility during the JM era, this discontinued model was cataloged at approximately 40.5 in overall length and about 7.0 lb. Length of pull is 13.5 in, and the configuration is full-size.
