Built in 1986, this pre-1994 M1A National Match combines Springfield Armory’s civilian M14-style platform with match-designated components. The barrel is marked with an NM stamp forward of the gas cylinder, indicating the National Match barrel feature set, and measures 22 inches for full-length ballistics with 7.62x51 NATO.
Key M14 features include the M14-pattern slotted flash suppressor and the M14 gas system with cylinder, lock, and plug. The rifle retains USGI lineage with a TRW bolt marked 7790185 TRW ZJ, and the receiver heel is marked U.S. RIFLE 7.62-mm M1A SPRINGFIELD ARMORY.
The rifle wears a parkerized finish over a steel receiver and a walnut stock with a fixed configuration, metal buttplate, and front/rear sling swivels. A brown ventilated fiberglass M14-pattern handguard completes the classic service-rifle profile.
Sighting is handled by a GI-style protected front post and an adjustable aperture rear sight with windage and elevation drums. A receiver-mounted M14/M1A scope base with a MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail is installed for mounting optics if desired. Capacity is 20+1, and the length of pull measures 13.25 inches.
