This late-1970s Colt Combat Commander is a pre-Series 80 steel-frame .45 ACP with the 4.25 inch Commander-length barrel. The 70BS serial prefix aligns with 1979 production. The bore condition is excellent.

This Combat Commander is a true pre-Series 80 configuration, built without a firing-pin block. It retains classic 1911 features including a single-side thumb safety, grip safety, and a standard magazine release. The action is single-action, short-recoil operated.
The Commander-length 4.25 inch barrel uses a conventional barrel bushing with a short recoil spring plug. The slide has a standard, non-lowered ejection port, and the sights are the small fixed GI-style type with a staked ramp front and low-profile notch rear.
Controls and ignition parts follow the late-1970s pattern: a ring hammer, an arched mainspring housing, and a short, serrated, solid-face trigger. The steel frame has a silver/nickel-colored finish paired with a darker slide, giving the pistol a clean two-tone presentation.
The grips are upgraded to wraparound checkered rubber with finger grooves for a secure hold. One 7-round magazine is included, matching the typical 7+1 capacity of this .45 ACP Commander platform. The bore is excellent, with sharp rifling and a mirror finish.
