The M&P45 Shield maintains the slim, single-stack format with a compact footprint for .45 ACP. Dimensions are 6.45 inches overall length, 4.88 inches in height, and 0.99 inch in width, with a weight of 20.5 ounces. Capacity is 7+1 with the included magazine.
Its stainless-steel slide and barrel wear Smith & Wesson’s black Armornite finish. The slide is cut with front cocking serrations and rear fish-scale serrations for positive manipulation. The rear sight is drift-dovetailed, and the sight picture is a steel 3-dot set with a white-dot front.
This pistol is striker-fired and includes a manual thumb safety. The slide is marked "Capable of firing with magazine removed," indicating it does not use a magazine disconnect. Disassembly follows the M&P-family system with a sear deactivation lever.
The carton label lists SKU 11531 and notes "NTS," while the pistol itself is configured with a manual thumb safety, as visible on the frame. Frame construction is black polymer with stippled texturing for a secure hold. Made in the United States.
