The Model 1903 Pocket Hammerless is a blowback, single-action design with an internal hammer, chambered in .32 ACP. This Type III example uses a 3.75-inch barrel and an 8+1 capacity, delivering the classic slim profile and handling characteristics associated with the model.
Type III configuration details include the absence of a magazine disconnect. The manual safety also serves as a slide-hold/inspection catch, and the slide does not automatically lock open on an empty magazine. Controls include a heel-type magazine release and a grip safety. The slide features rear serrations and a top-of-slide cartridge indicator.
Sighting equipment consists of a fixed half-moon front blade and a small U-notch rear. The frame is carbon steel, and the pistol wears checkered black hard-rubber grips with the COLT banner and Rampant Colt.
Factory markings and proofs are present and distinct. Left slide legend: "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO.
HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A. PATENTED APR. 20, 1897. DEC.
22, 1903." Right slide legend: "COLT AUTOMATIC CALIBRE 32 RIMLESS SMOKELESS." A Rampant Colt rollmark appears at the rear of the slide. Additional markings include the Colt "VP" proof on the left trigger-guard bow, a small "K" on the right-forward slide near the muzzle, and assembly stamp "34" on the frame flat below the ejection port. Also known as the Colt Model M, this U.S.-made pistol has matching serial numbers on the frame and barrel.
