Product Description

Remington Model 522 Viper .22 LR Semi-Auto Rifle, 20-Inch Steel Barrel, Black Polymer, 10+1

This Remington Model 522 Viper is a lightweight, 1990s-era .22 LR semi-automatic known for its polymer receiver and stock, 20-inch steel barrel, and easy handling. Made in the United States and produced from circa 1993 to 1997, it features integral tip-off scope grooves and a proprietary 10-round detachable magazine. Approximately 244,082 were made before the design was succeeded by the Model 597.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.

Rifling: Good Rifling - Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: The polymer receiver and stock are structurally sound with minor handling marks. There is minor pitting on the exterior of the barrel. The bore is bright and shiny with sharp rifling. The blowback action cycles smoothly, and the detachable box magazine seats and feeds properly.

    What's Included

    • Remington Model 522 Viper .22 LR semi-automatic rifle
    • 1x 10-round detachable magazine with side witness marks and a load-assist button

The Model 522 Viper uses a semi-automatic blowback action with right-side ejection, a cross-bolt safety, and a magazine disconnect. It includes a last-round hold-open and feeds from a proprietary detachable box magazine for a 10+1 capacity.

The rifle’s polymer receiver and synthetic stock keep weight low at approximately 4.6–4.7 lb while providing durability. The stock features a straight comb, a beavertail fore-end, molded checkering for grip, and sling swivel studs. Length of pull is 13.5 inches, and overall length is approximately 40 inches.

Sighting is straightforward with a ramped blade front and an adjustable rear notch. The receiver has integral tip-off scope grooves, offering a direct path for mounting rimfire rings if desired.

The 20-inch steel barrel pairs well with the rimfire platform and the black finish complements the rifle’s polymer construction. A checkered polymer buttplate with the Remington crest completes the configuration.

Built in the United States during the 1990s, the 522 Viper saw production from about 1993 to 1997 with approximately 244,082 rifles made. It represents Remington’s lightweight polymer-based rimfire of the era and was later followed by the Model 597.
