The Standard Issue M1A configuration features a 22 in carbon steel barrel with a 1:11 RH twist, built on a steel receiver and paired with a polymer upper handguard. The action is semi-automatic, gas-operated, with a rotating bolt, using an M14-type gas cylinder with lock and plug.
Sighting is handled by iron sights: a protected post front sight and a non-hooded aperture rear sight with windage and elevation drums. A USGI-pattern slotted flash suppressor (non-CA configuration) is fitted to the muzzle, consistent with traditional M1A/M14 styling.
The tan composite stock provides practical handling with molded checkering and a checkered pistol grip, capped by a Springfield Armory-crest rubber buttpad. Length of pull is 13.5 for a familiar, service-style fit.
