The ASR platform uses a straight blowback, semi-automatic action and is currently configured for 9mm with a bolt marked "9." It feeds from Glock-pattern double-stack magazines and ships with three OEM extended 33-round magazines, providing a 33+1 capacity with one in the chamber.
Its multi-caliber receiver is marked "CAL. MULTI," and the small-frame lower is marked "ASR 9/40/357 PAT." A quick-change/takedown barrel system supports caliber conversion within the ASR family. The installed 16.5-inch steel barrel is crowned for protection at the muzzle.
The carbine features a full-length 12 o'clock Picatinny rail that runs across the receiver and fore-end, plus a short 6 o'clock accessory rail segment. There are no fixed sights installed, allowing the user to configure sighting solutions on the rail as desired.
Ergonomics include a left-side charging handle with a round knob located forward of the ejection port, a ventilated tubular handguard, and a fixed skeletonized buttstock on a receiver extension/buffer tube. The length of pull measures 12.0 inches. The alloy receiver is finished in OD green anodizing, and the rifle is made in the United States.
