The SCAR 16S combines a monolithic aluminum upper receiver and a polymer lower in a durable Flat Dark Earth finish. Its short-stroke gas piston operation with a rotating bolt provides reliable cycling, and the side charging handle offers straightforward manipulation. The receiver is marked SCAR 16S, MULTI-CALIBER, and FN Columbia, SC USA, with the FN oval logo.
The 16.25-inch barrel is threaded and fitted with a three-prong flash hider. The monolithic upper provides a full-length MIL-STD-1913 top rail. The rifle accepts STANAG/AR-15 pattern magazines and has a stated capacity of 30+1.
The side-folding, telescoping stock features adjustable length of pull with numbered positions and a rubber buttpad. Length of pull measures approximately 11.5 to 14 inches, enabling quick, repeatable adjustments. The extended magwell funnel is installed.
