Built at Jianshe Arsenal (Factory /26\) in 1967, this Type 56 follows the SKS platform and has been configured in the 'Paratrooper' style with a shortened 16.5-inch barrel. It keeps the standard fixed internal 10-round magazine with a hinged floorplate and the proven semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston, tilting-bolt action.
The rifle features a hardwood stock with a varnished finish, steel buttplate, and a side-sling setup with a front sling loop and a rear side swivel on the stock. A wooden ventilated handguard with three vent slots is fitted. Sights include a hoodless front post with protective ears and a tangent rear ladder graduated to 1000 m.
Metalwork shows a blued finish, while the bolt and bolt carrier are left in the white. Markings include the Triangle /26\ arsenal mark and Chinese characters '五六式'. Import stamps read 'JPE POMONA, CA SKS 7.62 MADE IN CHINA'.
Additional build details include a fixed 10-round magazine, iron sights, and a configuration that retains core Type 56 characteristics in a handier 16.5-inch format. Multiple components are numbered to the same assembly series.
