This rifle is a custom configuration that mates a Colt Sporter Lightweight lower originally designated for 7.62x39 to a non-original .223 Rem upper with a 20-inch barrel. From the factory, this model would have been a 7.62x39 carbine with a fixed A2 carry handle; the current flat-top .223 setup reflects a purposeful hybrid build. The lower is marked "Sporter Lightweight 7.62x39," and included Colt magazines are likewise 7.62x39-marked; they feed snap caps normally.
The upper receiver is a flat-top Picatinny type with a forward assist, ejection-port dust cover, and case deflector. The 20-inch steel barrel has a threaded muzzle with no device installed. A pinned A-frame front sight base includes a bayonet lug and sling swivel, and no rear sight is installed.
A2 rifle-length furniture is installed, including a fixed A2 buttstock with a checkered trapdoor buttplate, A2 pistol grip, and ribbed polymer handguards with vent holes. The receivers are aluminum alloy with a hard-anodized finish and display the Hartford, Connecticut Colt rollmark. The front pivot pin is the commercial large screw-type pattern.
Pre-ban status is supported by the LH-prefix serial range indicating 1992–1994 production, with no "Restricted Law Enforcement/Government Use Only" marking. The action is semi-automatic, direct impingement, with a manual safety selector. Capacity is noted as 20+1, and the length of pull measures 13.5 inches. Country of origin is the United States.
