The Hunter submodel pairs a fluted, heavy-profile 6.875 inch barrel with a target crown for stability and clean muzzle protection. The right-side rollmark also reads "MARK III TARGET," a marking seen on this configuration. The barrel, frame, and receiver are stainless steel with a matte/brushed finish.
Sighting is handled by a HiViz green fiber-optic front on a ramped base and a micro-adjustable V-notch rear. The front unit accepts interchangeable light pipes, allowing the shooter to tailor brightness as desired.
Ergonomics and handling are enhanced by checkered cocobolo wood grips with Ruger medallions. As a full-size pistol, it measures approximately 11 1/8 inches in overall length and weighs about 41 ounces unloaded, balancing the heavy barrel with the all-stainless frame and receiver.
The Mark III operates on a straight blowback, single-action system and includes a loaded chamber indicator, magazine disconnect, and internal lock. Capacity is 10+1 rounds, supported here by two factory steel magazines.
This pistol is marked with the manufacturer part number KMKIII678H and represents the 2009 production within the Mark III Hunter series, which ran roughly from 2004 to 2016 before the Mark IV succeeded the line.
