This Thompson/Center Contender G1 Super 14 stands out with a factory-marked 14-inch heavy barrel chambered in .45-70 Government, factory cougar and scroll engraving on both sideplates, and quality walnut furniture. It features a blued carbon-steel frame and barrel, a Weaver-style scope base with a rear aperture/ghost-ring sight, and an aftermarket cylindrical ported muzzle brake installed at the muzzle.

Overall Condition: Very good condition, showing only light, superficial signs of prior handling or use.
Bore Condition: Excellent - Clean, mirror finish, no signs of wear.
Bore Rifling: Excellent Rifling - Sharp lands and grooves.
Mechanics: Action is very stiff and requires some force to open.
Specific Condition Notes: Minor scratches and blemishes are present. There is a spot of pitting on the right-hand side of the receiver.

This G1-series Contender uses Thompson/Center’s break-open single-shot action with an external hammer and a hammer-mounted firing-pin selector for rimfire or centerfire compatibility across the platform’s interchangeable barrel system. The trigger guard serves as the opening lever for the action.
The pistol wears a factory-marked Super 14 heavy barrel in .45-70 Government, built from carbon steel with a blued finish. An aftermarket cylindrical ported muzzle brake is installed at the muzzle. The bore is excellent with sharp rifling, supporting the barrel’s clean internal condition.
Factory cougar and scroll engraving appears on both sideplates, adding a distinctive factory-applied decorative touch to the blued steel receiver. The walnut furniture includes a finger-groove target pistol grip with a metal buttcap and a long two-screw walnut fore-end.
For sighting, the barrel is fitted with a Weaver-style scope base and a rear aperture/ghost-ring sight mounted directly to the base. No front sight is visible. This setup offers a solid platform for the included rear sight and accommodates the installed mount. Made in the USA, this single-shot configuration has a 1-round capacity.
