This rifle is built on the renowned Pre-64 Model 70 controlled-round-feed action with a large non-rotating claw extractor and a three-position wing safety. The receiver includes a gas escape port on the ring and is drilled and tapped, with a period Redfield base installed.
The 22-inch Featherweight-contour barrel is made of steel and is finished in bluing, with the Winchester Proof Steel rollmark. Both the barrel and the receiver ring carry the Winchester WP proof marks. The internal box magazine feeds 4+1 rounds and uses a hinged lightweight alloy floorplate.
The walnut stock has cut point-pattern checkering, a straight comb, and a slim Featherweight fore-end. Sling-swivel studs are installed, and the butt is fitted with a ventilated rubber recoil pad and a white-line spacer. Length of pull measures 13.5 inches.
Factory open sights include a hooded ramp front and a folding leaf rear. The installed period Redfield base offers a straightforward path for mounting compatible rings if desired.
