The Speedmaster series is known for its ability to cycle .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle interchangeably. This example uses a blowback action fed by an under-barrel tubular magazine with a right-side loading port and a knurled front magazine cap. With .22 LR, capacity is approximately 15 rounds.
The rifle comes equipped with a fixed-power rimfire scope featuring a fine crosshair reticle and a 3/4-inch tube, mounted in Weaver 22 Tip-Off 3/4-inch rings/bases. It also includes a fixed-zoom hairline reticle scope, providing a precise, uncluttered aiming point. Factory iron sights remain in place, with a ramped front sight and a barrel-mounted folding/leaf rear sight.
Classic materials and controls round out the setup: a blued steel barrel, a wood stock with a straight comb and uncheckered surfaces, and a grasping groove fore-end. The controls include a right-side bolt handle and a cross-bolt safety, with a 13.5 length of pull for a comfortable shoulder fit.
Markings include the receiver rollmarked "Remington Speedmaster MODEL 552" and a barrel address that lists patent no. 2,675,638. Made in the United States, this Model 552 pairs traditional styling with practical rimfire versatility.
