The 1918 receiver places this rifle squarely in the WWI production period and within the double-heat-treated range, a noted improvement within the Model 1903 timeline. The receiver is milled steel and retains the stripper-clip charging slot on the bridge for rapid loading. It feeds from an internal 5-round staggered box magazine and includes a magazine cut-off lever, with a bolt-mounted flag safety.
The barrel is a standard 24-inch Springfield Armory replacement marked with the SA flaming bomb and dated 4-31, aligning with interwar service maintenance practices. Sighting equipment remains in the original service pattern: an M1905 ladder rear sight with windage and elevation slide, paired with a protected blade front sight flanked by integral forged ears.
Stock furniture is classic service trim: a full-length, straight-grip walnut S-stock with grasping grooves and an upper walnut handguard extending to the rear sight base. The oil-finished wood presents a partially legible boxed cartouche on the left wrist, consistent with period inspection practices. Length of pull measures 12.5 inches.
Service hardware includes a bayonet lug and sling swivels, and the rifle accepts the U.S. Model 1905 bayonet. Safety and handling features are as-issued for the pattern, including the bolt-mounted flag safety and the magazine cut-off.
