This Marlin Model 338MX is a JM-stamped, North Haven, Connecticut production rifle from 2008, chambered in .338 Marlin Express. It features a 22" round blued barrel, a blued steel side-eject receiver that is drilled and tapped with filler screws, and American walnut furniture with cut checkering. A Williams receiver-mounted aperture sight is installed, complementing the factory iron sights. Condition is excellent with a clean, mirror-bright bore.
The .338 Marlin Express cartridge was co-developed by Marlin and Hornady for use with LEVERevolution ammunition, giving this lever gun a chambering known for modern performance in a classic platform. The rifle retains hallmark JM-era details, including the JM proof and North Haven roll-mark, and carries the Marlin part number 70492.

The 22" round blued steel barrel pairs with a blued steel receiver for a cohesive, traditional finish. The receiver is a solid-top, side-eject design and comes drilled and tapped with filler screws in place, offering straightforward mounting options if desired.
Factory iron sights include a hooded ramp front with a fiber-optic bead and an adjustable semi-buckhorn rear. A Williams receiver-mounted aperture sight is installed, providing a refined sight picture while retaining the rifle’s classic sighting system.
The American walnut stock and forend feature cut checkering, a pistol-grip profile, and a Marlin-logo recoil pad. Sling swivel studs are installed, and the length of pull measures 13.5". The rifle uses a full-length tubular magazine with a 5+1 capacity.
Key JM-era identifiers are present, including the JM proof stamp and the North Haven, Connecticut roll-mark on the receiver. This example was manufactured in 2008 and carries Marlin’s mfg part number 70492. Safety is via a cross-bolt control.
