The Lightweight Government configuration delivers a classic 5 in 1911 profile with reduced weight thanks to its black anodized aluminum frame paired to a matte stainless slide. The result is a two-tone, full-size pistol with dimensions of 8.67 in overall length, 5.45 in height, and 1.34 in width.
The slide uses rear cocking serrations and a lowered, flared ejection port. Sighting is via Novak-pattern 3-dot irons with a dovetailed white-dot front and a drift-adjustable rear with two white dots for a clear, familiar sight picture.
Fire control is single-action (SAO), short-recoil operated, with a skeletonized hammer and a long, skeletonized trigger. Safety features include a beavertail grip safety and a manual thumb safety. The barrel uses a standard bushing system with a traditional recoil spring plug.
Ruger-specific touches include a titanium firing pin, an inspection port for visual chamber checks, and an integral (non-staked) plunger tube. The pistol wears textured red/black G10-style grip panels and is chambered in 9mm Luger with a 9+1 capacity. Rifling is 6-groove with a 1:10 RH twist.
