This NRA Centennial commemorative is a factory-produced special edition from Colt’s Second Generation era (1956–1974), built to mark the NRA’s 100th anniversary. It carries the dedicated NRA-prefix serial range (NRA1–NRA7000) associated with this limited run and displays the commemorative identity prominently.
The left side of the barrel is factory marked in gold script with the inscription '1871 NRA Centennial 1971.' Additional rollmarks include the barrel address 'COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT.
USA' and the model marking 'COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY .45,' underscoring its period-correct presentation and configuration.
Construction and finish are classic Colt: a color case-hardened frame and hammer paired with a high-polish blued carbon-steel barrel and cylinder. The revolver retains the early-style 'bullseye' ejector rod head, and it wears smooth hardwood grips with Colt gold medallions for a traditional SAA profile.
Chambered in .45 Colt with a 7.5 in barrel, this six-shot, single-action revolver uses fixed sights consisting of a blade front and an integral rear notch. It was manufactured in the United States in 1971 during the Second Generation period, aligning with the centennial year noted in the commemorative markings.
The included factory wood presentation case features NRA centennial medallions on the lid and interior, with a yellow felt lining that complements the revolver’s finishes. The original box is also included, completing a presentation that suits display or collection continuity.
