Built by Davide Pedersoli in Italy, this Musketoon adheres closely to the P.1861 pattern with its shorter 24-inch barrel and .577 caliber bore. It operates via percussion cap ignition and retains the single-shot, muzzle-loading format of the original service arm.
The sighting system is period-correct, with a fixed front blade and an Enfield-pattern ladder rear sight featuring a slider graduated 1-3. The external hammer has a checkered thumb spur for positive control, and the lock and hammer are case-hardened.
Hardware and furniture are true to the style: brass buttplate, trigger guard, forend cap, and lock-bolt escutcheons; two blued barrel bands; and a blued barrel. An under-barrel bayonet stud is fitted, along with a steel ramrod with a turned tip and a spring retainer. The stock has a full-length military fore-end and sling swivels.
Markings include Italian proof stamps (Gardone V.T.), the Pedersoli "dp" oval, "BLACK POWDER ONLY – ITALY" on the barrel, a year-of-proof code "21" in a rectangle, "25" bore stamps on the breech, and a stock cartouche with a crown over "SPA/Brescia." These factory and proof marks authenticate its manufacture and compliance for black powder use.
