The M&P Bodyguard 380 pairs a stainless-steel slide and barrel with an Armornite matte black finish and a black polymer frame. The micro-size profile and 2.75 in barrel keep the package compact, while textured grip panels with finger relief aid control. S&W monogram medallions are present on the slide and grips.
It uses a double-action-only, hammer-fired system with a shrouded hammer and second-strike capability. Controls include an ambidextrous manual thumb safety and a left-side magazine release. The frame marking indicates the pistol will fire without a magazine inserted.
Sight picture comes from fixed, dovetailed sights: a white-dot front blade and a serrated rear notch. Both sights are drift-adjustable, and the slide features rear cocking serrations for purchase.
