The Rough Rider is built around a Zamak 5 alloy frame with a blued/black finish, a 1215 steel barrel, and a steel fluted six-shot cylinder. It uses a spur hammer and single-action-only mechanism, delivering the classic feel associated with this series.
Target-friendly sights include an orange fiber-optic front blade and a fully adjustable square-notch rear, providing a bright aiming point and precise elevation and windage control.
Controls and safety are straightforward and visible: a manual hammer-block safety operated by a left-side lever with a red fire indicator dot. The revolver also features a removable base pin with a spring-latch button for cylinder access.
The under-barrel ejector rod housing uses a knurled ejector head for positive case extraction. Smooth hardwood grips complete the package with a clean, traditional look.
Factory rollmarks and inscriptions are present, including the left-frame rollmark "HERITAGE MFG., MIAMI, FL 33014" and the barrel inscription "HERITAGE ROUGH RIDER .22 CAL" with the safety warning "KEEP EMPTY CHAMBER UNDER HAMMER."
