This Model 317 AirLite pairs an aluminum alloy frame with a steel-lined barrel for an extremely light, yet durable, snubnose package. The matte/satin silver finish extends across the frame and cylinder, with the AirLite rollmark and the S&W round TRADE MARK logo present.
Chambered in .22 LR with an eight-shot fluted cylinder, it offers DA/SA operation and an exposed hammer with a checkered spur for confident single-action cocking. The knurled ejector rod and under-barrel lug provide positive extraction in the compact J-frame, round-butt configuration.
The 2-inch barrel uses a steel liner inside a shroud, delivering a clean, straightforward setup well suited to the revolver’s lightweight design. Fixed iron sights consist of a serrated ramp front and a rear topstrap groove/notch, providing a clear, snag-resistant sight picture.
Laminated wood boot-style grips complete the compact profile and provide a secure hold. The revolver is cataloged at approximately 10.5 oz unloaded and is made in the United States.
