The Compact configuration pairs a 16.5-inch stainless steel barrel with a laminated hardwood stock and a 12.5-inch length of pull. The straight-comb stock has a compact forend, Ruger-logo recoil pad, and sling-swivel studs, making the rifle easy to carry and mount.
The M77 Mark II action uses controlled-round feed with a Mauser-type claw extractor for positive cartridge control. A three-position wing safety provides safe, load, and fire positions, and the floorplate latch is inside the trigger guard. The internal magazine holds four rounds of .243 Win.
The rifle has no iron sights and is set up with factory Ruger M77 scope rings. A Swift variable-power riflescope is installed, ready for the range or field.
Stainless steel is used for both the barrel and receiver, finished in stainless. The barrel is unthreaded. This example was manufactured in 2001 in the United States.
