This example is customized with aftermarket wrap-around rubber finger-groove grips.

This Defender-size Colt 1911 is the Combat Elite variant in .45 ACP, built with a stainless-steel frame and finished in the TT Elite two-tone treatment (brushed stainless flats with black Ionbond PVD rounds). The slide is marked "COLT DEFENDER" on the left and "COMBAT ★ ELITE ★" on the right. Made in the USA, this example corresponds to Colt part number O7080CE.
The 3-inch system uses a bushingless cone/bull barrel, dual recoil springs, and a full-length guide rod. This compact setup is purpose-built for the Defender format while maintaining the Series 80 firing system.
Controls and features include single-action-only operation, a Series 80 firing-pin block, a beavertail grip safety, a left-side manual thumb safety, a long solid trigger, and a rowel/commander-style hammer. The slide has slanted rear cocking serrations only.
Sighting is via low-mount dovetailed 3-dot front and rear units. The Officer-length grip frame provides a 7+1 capacity in .45 ACP. Aftermarket wrap-around rubber finger-groove grips with a round medallion logo are installed.
