The VP9K uses a striker-fired, recoil-operated, Browning-type locked-breech system and a polymer frame sized for compact carry while retaining a 15+1 capacity in 9mm Luger. The integral Picatinny accessory rail on the dust cover supports weapon-mounted lights or other compatible accessories.
Ergonomics are fully modular with interchangeable backstrap and side panels, allowing the grip to be tailored to the shooter. Controls are truly ambidextrous, with bilateral slide stops and paddle-style magazine releases accessible from either side.
The slide is optics-ready with the factory cover plate installed and a 2 N·m torque marking on the plate. Sight alignment is provided by 3-dot iron sights with a front dot and a rear square-notch unit.
The 4.09 in barrel is cold-hammer-forged with polygonal rifling. Proof and import marks include the DE proof mark, CIP N proof mark, and HKI Columbus, GA import mark. The extractor serves as a red loaded-chamber indicator.
