The SW40VE pairs a matte stainless slide with a black polymer frame, delivering a durable two-tone package with practical controls. Rear slide serrations aid manipulation, and the frame features molded checkering with S&W medallion logos for a secure hold. A single-slot accessory rail on the dust cover supports compatible lights or accessories.
This model uses a striker-fired, short-recoil, locked-breech system with a two-piece trigger and an integrated trigger safety. The left-side magazine release supports quick reloads. A loaded-chamber inspection port and a loaded-chamber indicator provide visual confirmation of status.
Sight regulation comes from fixed sights: a white dot front blade paired with a square-notch rear. The slide is marked "SMITH & WESSON • SPRINGFIELD, MA • USA" and "SW40VE," and the frame notes that the pistol is capable of firing with the magazine removed.
Chambered in .40 S&W, this full-size pistol uses double-stack magazines with witness marks to 14 for a 14+1 capacity. It has a 4-inch barrel, measures approximately 7.25 inches overall, and weighs about 24.4 ounces unloaded, offering a balanced combination of size and carry weight.
The included factory QC envelope documents 5-groove, right-hand rifling and is dated 10-26-06. The bore condition is excellent, with sharp lands and grooves that reflect careful use and storage.
